The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is an independent agency of the U.S. federal government responsible for the civilian space program, as well as aeronautics and space research. NASA was established in 1958, succeeding the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics.
It is of great urgency and importance to our country both from consideration of our prestige as a nation as well as military necessity that this challenge [sputnik] be met by an energetic program of research and development for the conquest of space ... It is accordingly proposed that the scientific research be the responsibility of a national civilian agency ... NASA is capable, by rapid extension and expansion of its effort, of providing leadership in space technology .....
2. China National Space administration (CNSA)
Formed : 23 April, 1993
Annual budget : $11 billion
China National Space Administration is the national space agency of China responsible for the national space program and for planning and development of space activities.
Its headquarters are in Beijing. The CNSA operates three launch facilities: Jiuquan, in Gansu province; Taiyuan, in Shanxi province; and Xichang, in Sichuan province.
3. European Space agency (ESA)
Formed: 30 may , 1975
Annual budget : €6.68 billion
The European Space Agency is an intergovernmental organization of 22 member states dedicated to the exploration of space. Established in 1975 and headquartered in Paris, ESA has a worldwide staff of about 2,200 in 2018 and an annual budget of about €6.68 billion in 2020.
SA Member States: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
